What is Life Coaching?

“Coaching is a methodology that allows us to work with change, on a personal level, on an organisational level, on a relationship level.” (Kimsey-House et al. 2011)

You may hear a lot of people talk about coaching and wonder what it is and how it differs from everything else. The concept of coaching is not dissimilar to being coached in a sport. Imagine you are an Olympic Athlete where  ‘smashing glass ceilings’ is your sport. By this I mean breaking free from all those limiting beliefs.

Do you think you will never get that CEO role because you are a woman?

Or you will never get a promotion because you are black?

How about being newly Divorced at 50 and thinking you will never meet anyone else because you are too old?

These ‘never ever statements’ get given to us by other people.

And yet here are a list of people who smashed those glass ceilings:

  • Sir Richard Branson – Dyslexic and poor academic performance at school, founder of Virgin Group, owns his own Island and has a net worth of US$5 billion (March 2017), aged 67

  • Oprah Winfrey – born into poverty and raised by a single mother. Now household name and North America’s first and only multi-billionaire

  • Jo Pavey MBE – 40 year old gold medal winner of the 10,000m at 2014 European Championships, ten months after giving birth to her second child

  • Bozoma Saint John – the new Chief Brand Officer of Uber, a 40 year old black female

  • George and Doreen Kirby – oldest people to get married, aged 103 and 91. Both had been married previously. You are never too old to find love.

The difference is that all of these people believed that it was possible. That’s is how champions are made. Elite sports coaches work with their athletes to get them to believe it is possible to win and then move them to a stage where they know they will win.

How different would your life be if your wildest dreams could be possible?

If you are ready to smash some glass ceilings then I am ready to be your coach, your cheerleader and your number 1 supporter.

Let’s make it happen.
